Late June 2017, A Note from Pastor Steve
“Then little children were being brought to him in order that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples spoke sternly to those who brought them; but Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.’”
Hi, Revolution community!
I pray that you are finding some time this summer to enrich your spiritual life -- whether through reading a new book, gathering with old friends, wandering in God’s creation, exploring a new prayer practice or in myriad other ways that we can sense God’s revelation in our lives. One way I invite you to expand your spiritual horizon is by becoming active in our children’s ministry program. Revolution is blessed by a number of families with kids who offer us the opportunity to share God’s love through Christian education. Associate Pastor Candace Shaw guides our children’s ministries and does a fantastic job of helping people of every interest and skill level apply their gifts to sharing God’s love with the young people in our church -- both through regular Sunday gatherings and through special events.
I’m excited about Rev’s “Play and Serve Family Weekend” that is coming up Friday through Sunday, August 25 through 27. If you could offer time during this weekend, it would help us share a time of joy, learning and service for kids in our community. I’d also ask you to remember that serving in our children’s ministries is an act of love for both the kids and the parents. Particularly, when non-parents offer leadership on Sunday morning, it means that parents (and other adults with kids) can have the opportunity to be present in the worship service. So your gift of time is a double blessing! If you are interested in serving (in this or in other ministries), please contact the church office.
Finally, I want to make you aware of our upcoming sermon series which ties in with the the “Hero Central” VBS that is coming to Keystone in late July. From July 9 through July 30 we will be examining superheroes alongside heroes in the bible and exploring what guidance we can receive as God speaks to us through stories new and old. “With Great Power . . . “ will be an excellent opportunity to invite a friend to join you at Revolution for some coffee, some fellowship and a worshipful community.
May peace be with you now and always,
